Here are some of the best tips for visiting the Alhambra.

Booking in advance will allow you to avoid long lines. Plus, if you purchase your tickets this way, you'll have the option to select your entry time to certain areas, such as the Nasrid Palaces, allowing you to better plan your visit and make the most of your time at the Alhambra.

The Nasrid Palaces are the only area with restricted access hours, so your tour of the Alhambra should be organized around the entry time to the Nasrid Palaces, which will be indicated on your ticket. It's recommended to start in this area and then visit the Alcazaba, the Palace of Charles V, and finally the Generalife.

  • It's recommended to go early in the morning, when the air is cool, so you can enjoy panoramic views of Granada before the crowds begin.
  • It is also important to wear comfortable clothing and footwear, as well as clothing appropriate for the season in which you visit, including a hat and sunscreen in the summer, and warm clothing and a scarf in the winter.
  • Don't forget to bring water and food, although vending machines can be found in the Alhambra's service pavilion.
  • If you're visiting with children, it's a good idea to tell them what they're going to see so they know something about the Alhambra and can enjoy the visit while letting their imaginations run wild.

Admission is personal, non-transferable, and nominative. Therefore, upon entering the Alhambra, you must show your original ID or passport; otherwise, you will not be allowed to enter the monument.

The average duration of a visit to the complete Alhambra with Nasrid Palaces is 3 hours.

If you've already visited the Alhambra, a nighttime visit can be a good option. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy a totally unique and different experience, while avoiding the crowds that typically occur during the day.

The Carmen de los Mártires, the Sacromonte neighborhood, the Albaycín neighborhood, the Mirador de San Nicolás, the Paseo de los Tristes, the Royal Chapel of Granada, and the Basilica of San Juan de Dios are some of the city's most emblematic places.
